A special congratulations to the following Islander wrestlers for placing at the 2012 WIAA State tournament:

Blake Johnson placed 1st at 160--the first MIHS State Champ in over a decade

Phil Frazier placed 2nd at 182, and Luke Wilson placed 5th at 106

Nick Chandler went 1-2 at 170 and will be back next year, as will Brian Rauzi who will continue to dominate at 182.

Congratulations, too, to all the Mercer Island wrestlers and fans on a great regular season! 7-0 in league duals! 7 KingCo finalists! 11 qualified to go to Regionals (and 3 alternates)! And Coach of the Year, which recognizes the leadership of the entire coaching staff, and the sportsmanship and character of the wrestlers and the fans! GO ISLANDERS!
